Christy Sanders Watercolors
Christy Sanders is an Oregon south coast artist who began painting in 2004, after retiring from a thirty year career as a Myrtle Point elementary Teacher. She is a watercolor artist at heart, but enjoys experimenting with collage and other mediums.
Christy is a member of the Bay Area Artist Association and the Watercolor society of Oregon. Christy has shown her work is local businesses and hospitals, and she has won many ribbons at the Coos County Fair including Best of Show. Christy’s work was accepted in the Coos Art Museum’s 2009 Expressions West Show, and the 2011 Western Oregon Regional Show and the 2014 Annual Maritime Art Exhibition. She was also in the 2013 Watercolor Society of Oregon’s Fall Transparent Show.
Christy grew up working on her father’s fishing boats. She has experienced different types of fishing…..salmon, tuna, crab, and shrimp. She feels she knows many of the ‘ins and outs’ of a commercial fishing boat. She loves walking on local docks and taking pictures that she might use later for marine themed art. It is her favorite subject.
Christy and her husband live on a hundred acre cattle ranch on the east fork of the Coquille River, about 14 miles from Myrtle Point, Oregon. She considers herself a ‘rainy day’ painter and spends her Summer’s outdoors, either helping her husband in the hay fields, working in her yard, visiting family, or going camping. Even though she may not be painting, she is always taking notice of her surroundings, see how light strikes objects around her and planning what she is going to paint next.
We have some Christy’s watercolor original paintings available framed and many Giclee prints of her originals available matted and unframed. Sold online and in store.
